Project Title: Menu Design – K&A
Client Name: Toronto Film School – Student Work
Brief: Create a menu that reflects the comfort of K&A and Chef Mark’s childhood inspired classic dishes in an eclectic contemporary atmosphere. Design a layout with graphics and images that bring a natural and comforting feeling using a calming colour palette and textures that connect with nature and serve as a basis for the overall eclectic mature restaurant design.
Roll and Skills: I developed the concept and the layout using Adobe InDesign. The style was inspired by Boho, eclectic with an emphasis on organic elements and nature. The combination of natural colours, textured imagery, and organic shaped graphics connects and complements the natural feeling of the restaurant accented with up-cycled wood and glass. The colours of brown, green, and yellow provide a connection to natural elements, reminiscent of natural wood and plants, while contrasted with black and white accents to provide sophistication and ground the design. To complement the Boho style, free and natural, type is a handwritten font family that provides a personalized element to the design.
Results: The layout of the menu for K&A, including the selection of colour, alignment, typography, and imagery creates an overall mood reminiscent of a refined Boho style. That has an element of sophistication and eclectic connection to nature.
