Project Title: Infographic – Our Plastic Problem
Client Name: Toronto Film School – Student Work
Brief: On the topic of “Our Plastic Problem” create a compelling infographic that presents the prevalence of plastics in the world. Visually represent the information using a mixture of graphs, icons, symbols, and text to convey information quickly and efficiently about plastics.
Roll and Skills: I developed the concept and graphics using Adobe Illustrator to create a layout of the information that flows in a logical pattern, top to bottom, beginning with the problem, why it’s important, and ending with the call to action. Each section is defined with a mixture of graphics and text, allowing the reader to focus on individual topics while being guided to discover more information. A simple 5 colour palette using the complementary colours of teal and orange as its base creates an easy to read and cohesive flow to the design. Fonts are selected that are clear and easy to read adding simplicity to the design. Figures along with symbols and icons give a spatial visualization of data creating connection to the information.
Results: The arrangement of text and graphic elements provides a cohesive infographic that effectively and efficiently displays a complete story line of “Our Plastic Problem”. Data is presented in a visually engaging way.
